If you’re heading to Maltby Street Market this weekend and want to make the most of the food scene, here are five stalls to try that are definitely worth stopping for.

1. Latin Bros

We kicked things off at Latin Bros. This time we tried their mixed trio of tacos — veggie, chicken and beef — but the real star here is their Cuban sandwich. I’ve had it before and it’s genuinely delicious, so if you’re torn between options, that’s the one I’d go for.

2. Amen Catering

Next, we visited Amen Catering for some Ethiopian food. Their beef box comes filled to the brim with your choice of sides and injera, the spongy, fermented flatbread that pairs perfectly with everything on the plate. It’s a wholesome, filling option that’s great if you want something warming and hearty.

They also have a second food van offering Caribbean cuisine, if that's more to your fancy.

3. That's Banging

If you’re looking for something a bit more indulgent, That’s Banging serves a mammoth breakfast burger that people swear by before taking on the Bermondsey Beer Mile. It’s huge and messy in all the best ways. We paired ours with Duck Frites — duck-fat fries topped with shredded duck and melted raclette — which took things to another level.

4. Duck Frites

Even if you don’t get the burger to pair it with, Duck Frites is worth a stop on its own. Their signature duck-fat fries with shredded duck and raclette is one of those dishes that you know is going to be good before you've even taken the first bite.

5. La Criolla

To round things off, we stopped at La Criolla for empanadas. We did try a spicy beef, but the sweet empanadas are the ones that really caught my attention. The caramel-filled one made the perfect dessert later on, especially eaten on the sofa at home.

A bonus tip: grab a drink indoors

We found a small bar space where you can bring all your street food inside, grab a glass of wine and enjoy a live DJ surrounded by art. It’s a great little break from the crowds and a cosy way to finish up your food crawl.
