There’s a new restaurant on the block. Vovem, an independent Steakhouse and Bar, opened it doors to the public on Friday 30th November. It’s situated on Union Street in Aberdeen which is superbly central and I think it will be a very popular local restaurant from the owner of Soul And The College bar – two well-known and established bars in Aberdeen.
I was kindly invited along on Thursday night, before it’s public opening, to the VIP Grand Opening.
We arrived slightly later than planned but everyone there seemed to be having a fabulous time. We were greeted on arrival to a glass of prosecco and a free bar for several hours, which was perfect.
The decor is right up my street – classy with black and metallic interiors and marble tables, but also displays a rustic feel with the exposed brick walls and wooden ascents. Further through the back of the restaurant is the cabinets that showcase their fresh meat which is a nice touch.
Throughout the evening, we were all treated to a selection of delicious canapés, such as oysters, steak tartare and my personal favourite, mini burgers. Other options included chorizo wagyu on a bed of lettuce and a mushroom based canapé too.
Downstairs, there is a ‘secret room’ which we somehow managed to also get invited down to view by some of Blair’s team mates who were also invited. It is an exclusive room with a separate bar called 21 Crimes. It’s open to the public as of now but first you’ll need to figure out the password to be allowed entry.
I met a few fellow Aberdeen bloggers which was lovely and I really did have a fun filled night. Weekday events are my favourite for sure!
I can’t wait to go with Blair for a date night to Vovem. From the food we sampled, I know a meal will certainly not disappoint. It’s not the cheapest restaurant though, as you can imagine, so we might have to wait for this expensive December month to be over first!
Have you been to Vovem yet?
