I don’t know about you but I feel Halloween crept up on us this year. How is it the end of October already? If you’re like me and want to feel a little spooky this season, then you might be in for a treat at Mackies Ice Cream in Aberdeen.
Situated in Marischal Square, Aberdeen, the Mackies19.2 ice cream parlour is a great central location for stopping by after work or a browse in the shopping malls. They have a wide selection of Mackie’s ice cream, from traditional flavours to the weird and wonderful, which means there is something for whatever mood you are in. Fancy a waffle? That’s fine, Mackie’s can offer you that. A crepe? Yes that too. You can even pop in for just a coffee if you wish.
Speaking of those tasty treats, I was kindly invited along to try out their Halloween Specials last night and what a feast we were given!
Pumpkin Spiced Latte at Mackies 19.2
To start our sugar overload and help wash everything down, we tried their Pumpkin Spiced Latte with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. This was my first ever PSL, can you believe that? And I loved it! I am now onto the autumnal drink hype and you’ll probably see me walking around with pumpkin spiced everything from now on. This particular latte was creamy with the right hit of coffee and pumpkin, which meant it wasn’t overpowering.
Halloween Sharing Waffle at Mackies 19.2
My favourite of the whole feast was the Halloween Sharing Waffle. Just look how cute it is. This pumpkin-themed sharing waffle consists of two chocolate orange waffles with 4 flavours of ice cream sandwiched in-between – Traditional, Chocolate, White Chocolate Swirl and Cookies & Cream. You’ll also discover a sprinkling of chocolate orange pearls, honeycomb pieces and chocolate sauce with a dash of whipped cream and Mackies19.2’s signature wafer on the side. This was the most devilish dessert I’ve had in a long time. It’s definitely for those with a sweet tooth but oh my, it’s delicious. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend giving this a go!
Creepy Crepe at Mackies 19.2
Moving onto the Creepy Crepe, this is a kid’s dream on a plate. The homemade crepe is lathered in bubblegum ice cream and strawberry sauce and decorated with lots of spooky jelly sweets, a chocolate flake, ghost marshmallows and whipped cream. Let’s not forget the Mackies19.2 wafer also. If you aren’t a chocolate fan, then this is definitely the dessert for you. It’s sweet, playful and a great Halloween choice.
When can I go?
If you fancy trying out the Halloween menu for yourself, you better get yourself there before it closes at 9pm tonight, because it’s the last day of the menu and you’ll miss out on your spooky hit!
If you don’t make it in time, that’s okay too. As I mentioned, Mackies19.2 has plenty more to offer every day of the week from 8am – 9pm most days (be sure to check the opening times before you go).
Have you tried out the Halloween menu this month?
